BROADVIEW, IL (January 2, 2014) – Star Thermoplastic Alloys & Rubbers, Inc. (Star), a leading TPE formulator since 1993, has hired Jamie Fountas of Orland Park, IL as Midwest Region Sales Engineer. He will be responsible for sales and service for the firm's broad range of TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers).

Star is one of the top 5 North American formulators and compounders of custom and standard TPEs used in thousands of consumer and industrial products and applications. The firm began operations in 1993 and sells to customers worldwide with the firm's multiple production lines and 5 laboratories in the Chicago area plus Midwest and West Coast storage facilities.

"Fountas has worked in plastics sales and service for more than 2 decades," according to Tom Dieschbourg, the Founder and President of Star. "Of particular note," continues the Star President, "is the fact that he has been involved with both the machinery as well as the materials sides of the business. This gives him a unique understanding of the molding process and nuances of molding TPEs for customers and prospects throughout the Midwest."

Prior to joining Star, Fountas was in sales and service with firms including Synventive and HRS. Prior to that he was a project engineer for 12 years, most of which was with Panduit Corp. A native of Orland Park where he lives with his wife and two sons, he is a graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Chicago, Chicago campus.
